29 Sep 2005
Communications software solutions provider expands sales focus
Leading UK communications software solutions provider, Exony, has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Phil Sweetland to head its Global Sales operation. He will oversee the continued expansion of Exony’s customer base in Europe and North America.
The promotion of Sweetland is part of a major expansion for Exony, following the appointment of new CEO Ian Ashby in June 2005. This has already led to increased sales success, notably with sit-up channels, the UK’s leading TV auction group. It recently announced that its newly launched ‘speed auction’ tv channel will run on a real time communications software system from Exony.
Phil Sweetland has been with Exony since late 2003, initially running its Professional Services division. In his new role as Vice President, Sales, he will be responsible for direct relationships with end-user customers, network/carrier partners and systems integrators.
Before joining Exony, Phil was with Portal Software, where he founded the European services operation and grew it to represent over 60 per cent of Portal’s global quarterly services revenues. Phil’s previous experience includes roles at LogicaCMG, Sybase and PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he worked extensively with leading international customers in the communications sector such as Vodafone Group, Reuters, France Telecom, Telecom Italia and MCI.
“Communications technology is at the heart of today’s successful, customer-centric businesses,” commented Ian Ashby, CEO, Exony. “We welcome Phil into his new role at this exciting time in Exony’s development. I firmly believe that the combination of Exony’s industry understanding and technical expertise, with the skills that Phil brings, will further drive our ongoing growth.”
The expanded Exony management team now comprises:
· Jonathan McKay, Chairman
· Ian Ashby, Chief Executive Officer
· Rex Dorricott, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Operating Officer
· Doug Webster, Chief Technology Officer
· Ken Hill - Chief Solutions Architect
· Phil Sweetland, Vice President, Sales
