Littlewoods reduces costs by 20 Per Cent

Exony congratulates Cable & Wireless on its contract win.

Littlewoods, the UK’s leading Online and  Home Shopping company, has awarded Cable & Wireless a five-year contract worth more than £20m to service its growing business.

Littlewoods, which expects its online shopping sales to double to £800m over the next few years, plans to have moved all eight of its contact centers to the new platform by the end of this month.

The deal is the final part of a consolidation programme that will see every part of Littlewoods’ business migrate to the new platform. Work started on platform consolidation when Littlewoods acquired rival UK home shopping business Shop Direct last year.  Littlewoods has a network of depots and distribution centres, customer contact centres, a dedicated financial services provider, state-of-the-art warehousing and returns facilities and document management and data services.

The new platform needed to be ready before the third week of November which is Littlewoods’ busiest week of the year.

Littlewoods’ CIO Martin Wyke says the deal will give the group the commercial flexibility it needs, and expects that the managed service contract would cut the retailer’s costs by more than 20% a year.

‘We were looking to consolidate our services and build a platform for future development and growth,’ he said.

He also believes that outsourcing management of its platform and network, including responsibility for all its supplier relationships, will enable it to channel its time and energy into improving the shopping experience for its customers.
